How to apply for a NAF job:
Review the list of openings, decide which jobs you are interested in, and follow the instructions given. You may apply for most jobs with a resume, the Optional Application for Federal Employment, or any other written format you choose. (You will be given special forms to complete for jobs that are unique or filled through automated procedures.) Application packages are available at the Human Resources Office in bldg. 503, room 116.

What to include:
Although the Federal Government does not require a standard application form for most jobs, we do need certain information to evaluate your qualifications and determine if you meet legal requirements for Federal employment. If your resume or application does not provide all the information, you may lose consideration for a job. You can help speed the selection process by keeping your resume or application brief, and by sending only the requested material. Type or print clearly in dark ink. Please note: all applications must be accompanied with a legible copy of driver’s license or state ID

Title and grade(s) of the job for which you are applying.

Veteran's Preference Change:
Due to a recent change, individuals previously ineligible for veteran's preference may now be eligible. This change applies to anyone who served on active duty for more than 180 consecutive days, any part of which occurred beginning September 11, 2001 and ending as of the close of Operation Iraqi Freedom, if otherwise eligible. If you meet the requirements of this new eligibility and wish to claim veteran's preference for hiring purposes, ensure you provide appropriate documentation to the Human Resources Office.

Give the following information for your paid and non-paid work experience related to the job for which you are applying. (Do not send job descriptions).

Job title (include series and grade if Federal Job)
Duties and accomplishments
Employer's name and address
Supervisor's name and phone number
Starting and ending dates (months and year)
Hours per week
Salary
Reason for leaving each job
Indicate if we may contact your current supervisor
Remember to go back at least 10 years top
Other Qualifications:
Job-related training courses (title and year)

Job-related skills; for example, other languages, computer software/hardware, tools machinery, typing speed.

Job-related certificates and licenses (current only) such as typing proficiency.

Job-related honors, awards, and special accomplishments; for example, publications, memberships in professional or honor societies, leadership activities, public speaking, and performance awards. (Give dates but do not send documents unless requested).
