The Youth Employment Skills () program is an on-base youth volunteer program, underwritten by the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS). The focus of the program is to offer high school students of active duty Airmen and Officers an opportunity to learn valuable work skills. In a joint effort between AFAS and Air Force Youth Programs, students "bank" dollar credits toward their post-secondary education.
allows high school freshman through seniors to "bank" $2 in grant funding for every hour volunteered in an on-base function, to a maximum of 500 hours of credit. Students may accumulate as much as 500 hours over their freshman through senior years, for a potential maximum of $1,000 toward their future vocational, technical, or academic endeavors. The program is limited to 100 participants or $50,000. In addition, the base will be credited with $1 to be used in support of base Youth Program enhancements (up to $10,000 per year.)
Student volunteer dollar credits will be dispersed in grant form upon verification of high school graduation and enrollment in a post secondary program. Use of funds is limited to tuition, books, fees, and other direct educational expenses.
