Charleston Youth Programs operates an award winning activity, as it has been named best in AMC. Open to youth ages 5-18, the program offers recreational, educational, and social activities, including team sports, clinics, instructional classes and the Keystone and Torch Clubs. Youth programs is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and has earned the Boys and Girls Club of America Commitment to Quality Program Award. The program also earned an Honors Award for Excellence in all five core areas from the South Carolina Boys and Girls Club Area Council.
Charleston’s Youth Programs and Air Force Youth Programs worldwide are encouraging young family members to, “Get Up, Get Out and Get Fit,” which just happens to be the motto of the youth fitness initiative named FitFactor. This program encourages physical activity, healthy eating selections and rewards youth between the ages of 6 and 18 years old and parents for their efforts. Look who's won at CAFB!
Youth Tae Kwon Do lessons are now underway at Youth Programs. These 90-minute classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays, and start at 5 p.m. The cost per student is $35 per month. The Tae Kwon Do instructor is a certified black belt instructor who has been teaching at Youth Programs for more than 15 years.
